Wong Tai Sin Temple 黃大仙廟 Wong Tai Sin Temple, a Taoist temple established in 1921, is one of the most famous temples in Hong Kong. It is also renowned among overseas Chinese in Southern Asia, Europe, and America. ![]() The architecture of Wong Tai Sin Temple is in the traditional Chinese temple style: grand red pillars, a magnificent golden roof adorned with blue friezes, yellow latticework, and resplendent multi-colored carvings. Also at the temple are the Nine Dragon Wall--a replica of the renowned Nine Dragon Wall in Beijing, and the Good Wish Garden - a miniature copy of Beijing's Summer Palace . Additionally, Wong Tai Sin Temple is the only temple that offers facilities for wedding ceremonies in Hong Kong Lantau Island (大屿山) Throughout Lantau Island, the beautiful scenery and famous historical sites are truly fascinating. There is a chain of mountains that stretches from the higher elevations in the west to the lower ridges in the east. The highest peak in the mountain range is Phoenix Mountain, standing 935 meters (102,2 yards) high. It is the second highest peak in all of Hong Kong. The most popular attraction for tourists visiting Lantau Island is climbing Phoenix Mountain to view and admire the sunrise. Tourists often climb up at night, and reach the top before the daybreak. It's steep in places so tourists should be well prepared before setting out. Bring a flashlight. ![]() Golden Bauhinia Square 金紫荆广场 On July 1, 1997, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) was formed following Great Britain's return of the territory to China. In celebration, China's Central Government presented a gilded bauhinia statue to Hong Kong. The statue was placed in the square next to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre facing the Wan Chai waterfront. This location is now called Golden Bauhinia Square. ![]() ![]() Happy Valley 欢乐谷 The low-lying area located between Wan Chai and Causeway Bay is the famous Happy Valley, where the people of Hong Kong gather to enjoy the excitement of horse racing and maybe gambling on the races. One of the oldest and the most famous architectural sites in Hong Kong, Happy Valley Racecourse was founded in the mid 1840s. The area was formerly a piece of marsh land but following extensive reclamation, the first horse-racing was held here in 1846. Evening meetings occurred in 1973 and in 1978; Hong Kong's second racecourse was created in Sha Tin in the New Territories. Hong Kong is now recognized internationally as a racing venue and is a favorite spectator sport among Hong Kong residents, many of whom like to have a flutter on the horses. Shopping in Hong Kong Causeway Bay 铜锣湾 If you shop and entertain in Hong Kong, do not miss Causeway Bay. Causeway Bay was a shoal more than a hundred years ago. After reclamation it was earth-based and gradually became a commercial area with an interconnecting road system. Now, it serves as a very popular center for shopping, dining and nightlife in Hong Kong.

Whenever you walk in the street, you will be confronted by heavy traffic and the crowd of citizens and tourist. But everything is very orderly. ![]() Tsim Sha Tsui is a major tourist hub in metropolitan Hong Kong, with many shops and restaurants that cater to tourists. Located in the south of Hong Kong Island, Repulse Bay is endowed with a pleasant seascape and charming vistas. ![]() Repulse Bay is also has beautiful bay with its long line of coast and smooth sands. This means that the water quality of the Beach is good. Mcao Attractions A Ma temple 妈阁庙 ![]() Approximately four hundred years ago the Portuguese landed on a sea promontory near a temple. They asked the local inhabitants the name of the land, but the locals misunderstood, thinking that the Portuguese were asking for the name of the temple. So they answered 'Ma Ge', which was the name of the temple. Later, the Portuguese translated the named into 'Macau' and used it to refer to the land. In actuality, this temple is one of the three famous Buddha halls in Macau- the A-Ma Temple ![]() The A-Ma Temple, located in the southeast of the Macau Peninsula, is the oldest temple in Macau. It was constructed in the year of 1488 of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) to commemorate Mazu, the sacred sea goddess who blesses the fishermen of Macau. It is said that the goddess was called Lin Mo, and that she was born in Putian City, Fujian Province, and was more intelligent than other children her age. She could predict good or ill luck and after her death she often helped merchants and fishermen ward off calamities and turn danger into safety. Now there are a number of folktales about the great goddess narrated in the littoral lands. Ruins of St. Paul's 大三巴牌坊 The Ruins of St. Paul's (also known as Sam Ba Sing Tzik) stands adjacent to the famous Mount Fortress and Macau Museum. The front façade and the grand stone stairs are the only remains of the greatest church in Macau. ![]() First constructed in 1580, St. Paul's Church caught fires in 1595 and 1601. However, reconstruction started in 1602 soon after the church was burnt down. Completed in 1637, the church became the biggest Catholic Church in East Asia at that time. Built with granites, Sam Ba Sing Tzik has a baroque facade rich in ornamentation but with classic oriental characteristics. From the bottom up, the structure has five tiers. The first tier is comprised of ten Ionic columns with three entrances. The entrance in the middle has 'MATER DEI' carved into it. The two entrances on each side are decorated with bas-reliefs in the pattern of 'HIS'. The second tier features ten Corinthian columns with three windows. A Catholic saint is enshrined in each of four tabernacles between columns. The two tiers as a whole is said to represent the Society of Jesus and the activities of missionaries. Senado Square Senado Square (Largo do Senado) is a public square in Macau. It is located in the central area of the Macau Peninsula. Covering an area of 3,700 square meters (4,425 square yards), this is one of the four largest squares in Macau; the others being Praça do Centro Cultural, Praça do Lago Sai Van and Praça do Tap Seac. In 2005 the Senado Square was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List as it forms part of the Historic Centre of Macau.
![]() Camoes Garden and Grotto Camoes Garden and Grotto, or just Camoes Garden as well, is one of Macau's oldest parks. The park is also Macau's largest, covering an area of nearly 20,000 square meters (about 24,000 square yards). Camoes Garden
was originally the house of a Portuguese merchant who enjoyed raising pigeons.
His house served as a beautiful backdrop to the hundreds of flying pigeons that
he raised. From afar, the pavilions and buildings in the compound looked like
nests. After the death of the merchant, his residence was donated to the
government, commemorating the great Portuguese poet Luis de Camoes, which is
where the name of the garden comes from.Lou Lim Lok Garden Lou Lim Lok Garden is located in central Macau Peninsula, with an area of 1.78 hectares (about 4.4 acres). It is the only Suzhou style garden in Macau. The garden boasts elegant and peaceful scenes just south of the Yangtze River. This area is known as Jiangnan in Chinese. The garden enlisted in the top eight scenes of Macau in 1992.
