The blood is a quintessence of any life. It nourishes and bedews whole human body. If the vessels are full of blood, the human body is healthful. In the contrary, a lack of sufficient volume of blood in the vessels can bring anemia, weakness and leads at least a hundred diseases. The blood problems include anemia and defects of the blood circulation. The later in turn divides, as the Chinese medicine men call, "hot blood" and "overflow of blood". The anemia characterizes with a slow blood circulation. In result all inner organs suffer from undernourishment. The illness can be discerned by some conspicuous symptoms. As the ancient Chinese medical compendium describes them, "one is yellow, five are whites, four are hungry". "One is yellow," means a face. The skin is dry without glitter. "Five are whites," means the lips, the nails, the tongue, and the eyes. "Four are hungry," means the heart, the liver, the head, and the extremities. If the heart is "hungry", the syndromes are follows: pains in the heart, sleeplessness accompanied with somnolence, mental depression etc. If the liver is "hungry", it manifests as deafness, pains in the ribs, low spirits, disturbance of the menstruation cycle etc. If the head is "hungry", it brings vertigo, worsened vision, heterotopias, in the most dangerous cases, a blindness, absent-mildness, somnolence. If the extremities are "hungry", the legs are partially paralyzed, the skin is pale, the arms are trembling etc. What are the origins of anemia? First, the extinction processes, heavy hemorrhages, consequences after prolonged illnesses, strenuous mental efforts, over fatigue etc. Second, the defects of growing process, e.g. the consummation of foul foods for a long-time, poor digestion. Thoroughly it may be explained as the shortness of "Qi" in the corresponding organ. A Chinese proverb says: "The "Qi" makes blood" or, in other words, the "Qi" is the most decisive factor, which guarantees healthy blood and normal blood circulation. "The hot blood" is a type of illnesses, caused by an acceleration of the blood circulation. When the vessels are widened, the circulation is chaotic. "The overflow of blood" leads to inner hemorrhages, it is the vessels' disease. |
